above:  The magic monkey Songoku from the Chinese story “Journey to the West,” creates an army by plucking out his fur and blowing it into the air – each hair becomes a monkey-warrior.

Two uncut chubans (forming an oban).  It is unusual to find prints from this series uncut, as printed as many dealers (and collectors) have cut them.  Some repaired wormage mostly around edges.
