Nikki Danjo, the evil magician, has transformed himself into a rat. The hero Arajishi Otokonosuke (played in this case by Ichikawa Danjruo VII) is confronting him in the basement of the palace. Trapping the rat under his feet he then strikes the rats forehead with his iron folding fan and gives a gushing wound to the rats forehead. However the rat is able to then escape through the hanamichi and transform.
