Very good impression and colors. Album backing. Deluxe printing with mica and gaufrage effects. One of the first “historical” plays (“Komonki Osama Koshaku”) was based on a 17th century Tokugawa conflict. Even though Danjuro IX’s performance was highly praised as being accurate, the play closed quickly, in part due to a threat of a law-suit because the inclusion of the character in some fictitious scenes thus defamed the Mito clan.
The character has survived and has become the main character in Japan’s long running TV drama: Mito Komo about a traveling white-haired nobleman who goes around the country righting wrongs
